In important letter. We CAN make a difference! [16 Jun 2005|10:48pm]

sidekickboy
Hey, I've decided to become a deeply concerned community activist because there's a lot of fame and money in it, I hear. So my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with this girl who saw this guy pass out at the 31 Flavors, and he gave her this letter as his dying wish. I guess he's got another thirty or forty years at least, so he already wasted his dying wish, but what's the use unless you see it's culmination, right?

So if you or anyone you know has connections, please do something! I care very deeply for this person!

------------------------------------------

To the estate of Winston Churchill, or anyone who can help,

My name is Roland E. Potshot, and I have a problem. I am always confusing your respected and, I am made to understand, bald former Fellow of the Royal Society and horse owner (including one named Comma) known as Winston Churchill with my French Bulldog, Winston Churchall.
Obviously, this is a problem. I have often been embarassed with friends in public restaurants, when I,thinking we were all admiring my dog (he has very perky ears), would spout off something like, "My Winston never lost a naval battle at Coronel off of Chile in 1914 when he was First Lord of the Admiralty!!!" only to discover they were talking about your Winston Churchill all along. My dog wasn't even alive back then.
Because of this, I've been kicked out of many fine establishments, I even lost my membership at Sam's Club, for telling the lady in front of me in line that I had to get my Winston Churchall neutered. And now I just can't deal with it anymore. That's why I'm writing this letter:
Will you please change Winston Churchill's name? I know posthumous name changes are uncommon, but I don't think he'd mind. It was Winston Churchill who said, "Mr. Editor, I leave when the pub closes." I'm sure a guy like that would also say, "Yeah, go ahead."
Please change his name. I'd change my Winston Churchall's, but I've been calling him that for three years now, and he won't come by any other utterance (his name used to be Mother, until she sued me).
Will you consider changing Winston Churchill's name, please? I might suggest Laquisha & the Mighty Legion of Shrieking Wombats, Mr. Biggles, or perhaps Micrasoft. Either one will do. Of course, he's your man of history, so you can choose any name you deem fit (except for Roland E. Potshot, please. I have enough trouble with the press as it is).

I'll be looking for new, altered history books and news articles in the near future. Thank you. Winston says "Arf."

I love what Winston Churchill did to improve the way heavy drinkers are viewed, worldwide!

Sincerely,
Roland E. Potshot
Winston Churchall

HIIIIII!!!

My name is Chelsea. I'm definitely brand new to this community and I love you all for real, because that's how I am.

I live in Birmingham, Alabama (Heck yeah) and um...I love music a whole lot and my friends and Jesus.

Anyway, That was just an introduction before I get to the point of my post:
I want to go to Cornerstone this year. I'm so excited about the bands that are playing and it would just be extra amazing.
I joined the street team a few days ago and if I get enough people to buy tickets, I get a free one. That would be SOOO A GIFT FROM GOD/from the people who bought tickets.
So...If you buy a ticket to Cornerstone this year, and you don't already have a person's code to put in the little blank, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put in mine.

My code &my sad face if I don't get to go:

PROJECT 86-ed.... [30 Nov 2004|04:52pm]

ifyouknowme
[ mood | determined ]

This from the PROJECT 86 journal.

SORRY WILMORE

We do apologize to all of you who came out to the Wilmore show, only to have us not play. We made an agreement with Pillar's mgmt. to play only clubs and neutral venues on this tour, seeing as we have a personal conviction about playing actual churches (because of many bad past experiences with this). There have been several shows on this tour which have been borderline, which we played somewhat reluctantly.

However, we were not informed prior to showing up yesterday that the venue was actually a church sanctuary. It's not that we hate churches or anything like that...it's just that we just don't feel a legitimate band should play shows in that environment.

Again, we are sorry, but this is not something you should get upset at us for...if we would have known beforehand we never would have been on the bill in the first place. Come see us tonight in Louisville. If not, we will be back through this area early next year.

[catwantsin - quick overview of Project 86 history with the genre of Christian music would serve as a good preface for the statement I think Project 86 has been one of the very few honest bands out there. Because the band is made up of  Christians and they are accepted in every reputable Christian music forum as being consistant enough in message and lifestyle to remain. Although I do find it odd that the band had no issue with playing at Southwestern a well known Bible school we did the review on, but does have issues with playing in a church. Never the less I would advise that everyone hold their criticisms. The band actually has a stance on this and it should be embraced not alienated. Different bands have different ministries and I do hope one day these guys are willing to play anywhere without restrictions. In the meantime complaining about the fact that they don't want to play in a church actually compiles the judgement system which these guys feel they are already under. Hopefully most of us with just leave them alone. It is between them and the King Of Kings. If anything they are to be complimented for their persistance in be up front.

The Future Of Set Apart..... [26 Nov 2004|07:00pm]

[ mood | crushed ]

Posted: Mon Nov 15, 2004 4:45 pm    Post subject: Chris Leaves the Band

For those of you that were unaware about two weeks ago Chris talked to the guys about his feelings on the future and has decided to leave Set Apart. The future of Set Apart and the other member of the band is uncertain right now. Sorry for being so quite about it.
God Bless.

This is from the bands Forums- we just caught on to it today. The guys usually email us when this stuff goes down. Anyway, I will likely try to get in touch with Mitch and see where the band is or isn't. These guys are one of the better bands in Arizona right now so this news hits us pretty hard. Please pray for these guys.

2004 Hardest Hitting Bands Yet....... [25 Oct 2004|06:27pm]

ifyouknowme
[ mood | impressed ]

[ cat wants in ] I think I was reading somewhere that this year had been a bit of a disappointment Christian rock wise. I would beg to differ. While some will point to the emergence of  Falling Up, Hawk Nelson, Fallout, Kingsdown and Roper... (great bands all) I would like to direct your attention to some late entries,

[ flyleaf ] Blistering new female fronted rock.                   [ decyfer ] Bring the kitchen sink I always say....

... flyleaf currently touring mostly with saliva is starting to capture the attention of the masses. With post evanescence style guitar work and even better vocals these guys/gal are the real thing. Check out this bold new band out of Temple, Texas.

... decyfer hits us with a nice debut Ep and the sound of electric oblivian. Somewhere between post hardcore and straight forward devestation we find ourselves with the need to decyfer. Currently being played on The Effect Radio. This band has already attracted more fan-ratings than any other band in Cat Wants In history....

Also currently on the frontpage  mark 13  and  jaded thorns.  in addition new this week we introduce liptocoal another band proving Christian music is in for an incredible 2005.

CHANGE : We have removed Watashi Wa from the bands list, they are no longer. ESO has been moved to the band archive pages, they to have broken up.

Anberlin.....Down to 4... [21 Oct 2004|07:12pm]

ifyouknowme
[ mood | crushed ]

I normally don't follow this band but "Glass To The Arson" is just awesome and the band has grabbed my attention.

The Wanderer from CMCentral.com posted this....

I was just checking Anberlin's website to see the status of the upcoming album (due out early 2005) and I saw a picture of the band. There are only 4 guys now. One of the guitarists left which really bums me out because I loved the sound they had with both of those guys. Let's hope they can keep up the energy on the new stuff.

oh yeah, the title of the upcoming album is Never Take Friendship Personal
This post has been edited by TheWanderer on Oct 19 2004, 12:19 PM

The band recently played here in Phoenix and put on what some called a fairly poor performance. I am kind of skeptical of that review so I will likely be checking them out soon.

Say it isn't E-SO.... [20 Oct 2004|02:57pm]

ifyouknowme
Hey guys this is justin from the former e.so. Yes i know i said former, we decided to call it quits after mark left. Well see Mark wasnt from Southern Cali. He would actually travel down from Northern Cali to So Cal every time we wanted to play. This made it very hard on both parties. Mark was originally going to move down to So Cal but then some stuff got in the way. It broke off fine and we are a little bummed but you know God is didnt want us to go any further, which we had to accept. Thank you guys for your support through all the times. We might get together later on, but as for now we are kind of enjoying the relaxing feeling of not being in the band. Oh yah with Lee, the first singer, hes getting married really soon, so were excited to see what God does through that, and were not pressing him to spark up eso again. Hey but maybe some day we will have a reunion tour

Set Apart... [15 Oct 2004|12:46am]

to take the national stage. Right now they are being played here... http://www.effectradio.com

SET APART is a well deserving band out here in Arizona that I would love us to get on The Effect Radio's top 44.

Check out the band for yourself at http//www.setapartrock.com . You can hear their songs on the media page but the song you will need to request at the site is "Breathe Again" by Set Apart. Thanks for all your help and support.

Uggh, I can't believe I blew this one.... [11 Oct 2004|06:58pm]

ifyouknowme
[ mood | hyper ]

On my way to yet another concert when disaster stuck and I had to stay home to take care of my son. After the clouds had lifted so to speak I drove over to Festival Con Dios here in Phoenix, AZ. It was going to be the biggest concert I would review for the site. I could hear KJ-52 pounding out rhyme from a street away but I would be to late. KJ-52 was wrapping up his show and all the other bands had finished their sets for the night. The one exception.... the Newsboys. In a bizarre case of completely bafoonery I passed up the chance to stick around for a reveiw of the band and went home. This one about a year or more ago. The next chance and catching this tour appears to be in May of 2005. I think it may be worthy of a road trip if they are not coming to Phoenix.

Festival Con Dios and Food For the Hungry recently collaborated on a trip to Bolivia as part of a larger vision to bring child sponsors to the children and communities they help support. Festival Con Dios, a pioneer among Christian music tours, is no stranger to big ideas. The traveling festival has become a cultural event, combining a carnival atmosphere -- complete with inflatable games and stunt shows -- with top artists and a passion for ministry. With the help of Food For the Hungry, Festival Con Dios is taking that ministry in a bold new direction. The two organizations first teamed up last fall to encourage audiences to show their love for the poor by sponsoring a child or going on a short-term mission trip. They raised the stakes with an unprecedented offer: to take a sponsor on an all expenses paid trip to visit his or her child overseas. The eventual plan is to make similar trips a regular event to give concertgoers at Festival Con Dios opportunities to meet the children they sponsor. Jesusfreakhideout.com

hi everyone... [06 Oct 2004|07:59pm]

[ mood | frustrated ]

Okay I am kind of lame I guess and didn't figure out how to join communities until just now.

Background - I live in Phoenix, AZ and am 31. I have a wife and an awesome little 3 year old.

Agenda- I love Christ and those who love him. I really really love those doing that through music. I wish to promote Christian bands of all genres except maybe country.

The Place - http://www.catwantsin.homestead.com   my journal should be on the comment thing. I post mostly about music but some political stuff as well. I won't be posting any political stuff here however.

God bless you guys and thanks for creating this community.
